About the role

CULTUREshift is a key part of our London Borough of Culture programme for children and young people. As the Creative Lead for CULTUREshift, you will develop a programme to enable 12-18 year olds to create and lead on a youth presence during LBOC. This will include recruiting, training, mentoring and supporting the Rebel Collective - a group of young people, who through the programme, will be empowered to curate and deliver their own event(s) - programming by young people, for young people. The Creative Lead will deliver regular sessions - alongside guest creative specialists - across the London Borough of Culture year from April 2027 to March 2028. We are looking for a creative or cultural organisation or independent creatives with experience of developing and delivering dynamic contemporary training programmes for young people.

You will support young people to develop, manage and curate their own events programme using the London Borough of Culture infrastructure, partners, spaces and technical support. You will also support the Rebel Collective to manage budgets, commission artists, curate panels and programmes and be trained to produce a significant event - one that they want to experience, and to be experienced by their peers.

Members of the collective will also advise on, and lead panel decisions on creative projects by residents as part of the Haringey Unearthed grants initiative and attend our curatorial advisory group Moselle Rises. The Creative Lead will work with the CYP Producer to oversee the Rebel Collectives involvement in these groups.

The programme will introduce young people to career opportunities across the creative sector, offering inspiration while building confidence and skill sets of the participants. The events they create will offer platforms and safe spaces for local young residents and artists. The programme will support young people to feel confident as creative change-makers.

    • Support the Rebel Collective to learn the skills they need - from finance to marketing, administration to event management - to feel confident delivering their own events. You will be supported and connected by the LBOC team where relevant.
