Lead Volunteer

‍About the role

Lead Volunteers will support the recruitment, training and coordination of our Rebels With A Cause volunteers throughout Haringey's London Borough of Culture programme (2026–2028). This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills, meet people from across Haringey and help shape the lasting legacy of London Borough of Culture. Lead volunteers will also have the  opportunity to gain a Level 2 in Volunteering qualification, delivered alongside Haringey Learns. 

We are particularly looking for Lead Volunteers who can support volunteers with disabilities, including people with hidden disabilities and access needs, helping to ensure everyone can take part and feel supported.

Liberty Festival Lead Volunteers

Haringey’s Liberty Festival will happen in November 2027 and will be part of London Borough of Culture 2027. It is the Mayor of London’s festival celebrating D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent artists, with events taking place across the borough.

We are specifically looking for 4–6 Lead Volunteers who self-identify as D/deaf, disabled or neurodivergent who will use their lived experience and expertise to support the recruitment and coordination of volunteers, and help create an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone taking part in the festival.

Lead Volunteers will also provide guidance and support to disabled volunteers, including people with hidden disabilities and a range of access needs, helping to ensure everyone can participate fully.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the recruitment and training of volunteers
  • Helping to promote volunteering opportunities and encourage participation from across Haringey’s communities
  • Supporting volunteers during activities and events
  • Attending relevant training sessions and meetings
  • Taking part in community engagement activity to raise awareness of the Rebels with a Cause volunteering programme

We’re looking for people who have:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A flexible approach and the ability to adapt to changing situations
  • An interest in supporting communities and creating inclusive experiences.

Where you’ll be based

A combination of office-based and community settings across Haringey.

Time commitment

The role is flexible and designed to fit around your availability. There will be busier periods around key activities and events, alongside quieter periods as the programme develops.

Further details about the schedule will be shared as programming plans are confirmed.

Please note that Lead Volunteers will be required to attend training between September and November.

Applicants will be informed of decisions by Friday 28 August. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited for an informal interview.
